Senior Software Engineer - API Central

Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer. 

The Opportunity 

 
We are on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer - API Central to join our team. The right candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our API Gateway platform. This role will be a key contributor to API strategy, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of APIs. 
 

Responsibilities: 

• Designing, implementing and managing the ApigeeX platform, including proxies, policies, and environments 

• Monitoring platform performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimization strategies and ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of the ApigeeX platform 

• Performing regular platform maintenance, upgrades, and patching 

• Diagnosing and resolving complex API issues and platform problems 

• Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and product managers 

Requirements: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field 

• 3+ years of experience in software development, or related fields 

• Deep expertise in ApigeeX, API design principles, and cloud-native technologies 

• Experience with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, Go, or similar 

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) 

• Basic understanding of DevOps principles and practices 

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 

• Good communication and collaboration skills 

• Experience with API management platforms
