Harmonia Holdings Group (HHG), LLC, an award-winning federal government contractor, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AWS Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing Oracle and MS SQL databases, as well as extensive experience with AWS managed databases including RDS, Aurora and Redshift. This role requires a deep understanding of database failover and recovery, backups, migration of on-premises databases to AWS, and proficiency with AWS CloudWatch. The successful candidate will be passionate about ensuring database performance, availability, and security, and experienced in handling data warehouses.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of various RDS platforms (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, Aurora, SQL server) and how to use cloud formation and AWS CLI for deploying, managing, and automating these database environments
  • Experience implementing and designing High availability and disaster recovery solutions in AWS
  • Experience in database failover, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning
  • Experience supporting security audits
  • Strong knowledge on the principles of well architected framework and how they specifically apply to the customers AWS database environments
  • Deep familiarity with database monitoring tools, especially AWS CloudWatch, for performance monitoring and alerting
  • Experience with data warehouse design, implementation, and optimization, for example, AWS Redshift
  • Lead migration projects from on-premises databases to AWS, including planning, execution, and validation of database migrations and upgrades
  • Ensure database security measures are in place, including access controls and audit logging. Comply with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations
  • Provide high-level support for complex database issues, including troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, etc.
  • Expertise in Windows and Linux OS and its fundamentals
  • AWS or relevant database/security certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architecture Professional, AWS Certification – Database – Specialty,  Security+ CE, etc.)

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, focusing on AWS database technologies
  • Proven experience as a DBA with expertise in Oracle and MS SQL server databases
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS database services, such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the various database platforms running on EC2 and how to use cloud formation and AWS CLI for deploying, managing, and automating these database environments
  • Demonstrated experience with migrating on-premises databases to AWS
  • Utilize AWS CloudWatch and other monitoring tools to ensure database health, performance, and to automate scaling and notifications
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time and disaster recovery solutions
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with excellent organizational and time management skills

GOVERNMENT CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Citizenship – Must be a US Citizen
  • Clearance – Preference will be given to candidates with Top Secret clearance
  • Location – This role will be Remote/Telework with on-site visits (Washington DC) if /when needed
