Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Integrated Office Services – Print Services to join its organization. This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Set up, adjust and operate digital and manual reproduction equipment and devices to include a variety of advanced black and white / color printers with PC and network based interface. Prepare files and produce prints from digital images in a variety of file formats and sizes, to be mounted on a wide range of substrates to meet requirements of customers. Setup and operation of all post printing equipment to include: Punches, Binders, Laminators, Mounting equipment, Folders/Cutters. Final products may typically be formatted for printed reports, engineering drawings, hardcopy and digital signage, and banners.


WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:


PERFORM WORK OF EQUAL OR LOWER SKILL LEVEL AS REQUIRED.

1. Set up and operate the full range of print production equipment such as high-speed color, black and white, wide format printers or the like.
2. Utilize PC based programs to create, manipulate and complete assignments.
3. Utilizing manufacturers written instructions, perform diagnostics and calibrations of equipment weekly or as required. Review output for accuracy. Refer unusual or difficult problems to supervisor.
4. Work in conjunction with Creative Services and Capture Center teams along with other Northrop Grumman customers to resolve issues, provide alternatives to original requests (i.e., binding, formatting, printing, scheduling, and delivery of finished product).
5. Utilize digital technology to complete required jobs: labeling software, laminator, tabber, cutter, folders and various offline punchers. Also, to include the tab punch, various binding equipment, and stitcher for manual staple creation, and booklet makers.
6. Archive and maintain file management systems for storing, organizing, and retrieving jobs via network.
7. Review final product to ensure customer specifications are met. Refer unusual or difficult problems to supervisor.
8. Prepare and print tabs using established template.
9. Perform simple cleanup and cropping of documents as required. Refer unusual or difficult problems to the supervisor.
10. Knowledge of operation of pre-press make-ready software and high-end print controllers.
11. Job building/booklet creation using adobe acrobat and or imposition software
12. Communicate/coordinate with customers on job layout and resource recommendations.
13. Knowledge and operation of the classified print room, accessing the room and equipment operation with full understanding of the process for access/printing and accountability.
14. Coordination with both mailroom and internal transportation drivers on packaging and delivery of completed printed projects.
15. Evaluate and condition submitted files to ensure acceptable levels of print quality; employ appropriate software tools where needed to resolve issues that will degrade quality or effect accuracy of final printed image. Maintain currency in enterprise-approved software toolsets (currently includes MS Office Suite; Adobe Creative Suite CS5, Corel Draw). Note that software applications are subject to change with technology and industry trends.
16. Where editing is not feasible, work with other Northrop Grumman employees and departments to secure higher-quality materials to provide optimum quality finished product.
17. Calibrate and maintain commercial-quality production & wide format printers in standard- format sizes using appropriate sheet and roll-fed media. Interface with service technician and maintain knowledge of manufacturer's operating parameters.
18. Select and recommend appropriate media for specific customer applications and ensure output achieves optimum resolution and color rendition.
19. As required, affix printed graphics to appropriate substrates using appropriate adhesives, laminating materials and equipment. Trim finished items to precise size with straight, clean cuts.
20. Attach grommets, standoffs and other mounting hardware as required.
21. Wrap and label finished product as needed for shipment.
22. Monitor consumables (ink, paper, substrate, etc.) and order for anticipated supply needs. Maintain record of material used on individual jobs.
23. Perform basic duties of the Integrated Office Services mail room clerk.

This is a 1st Shift, SEA Union Represented Position.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

High School graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

1.Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in a print shop work environment or 30 credit hours (15hrs printing/finishing) reviewed and approved by management
2.Demonstrated independent operation of production print/wide format and finishing/mounting equipment operations.
