About the role:
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Thoracic Medicine Specialists to join the St Vincent’s Hospital Respiratory Department. This permanent 0.4 FTE position will commence ASAP.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
•    Provision of clinical services to patients designated as under your direct care, to outpatients and to patients you are asked to consult in Thoracic Medicine;
•    Provision of clinical services to patients as designated under your direct care, to outpatients and to patients you are asked to consult in with sleep related disorders;
•    Provision of interventional and diagnostic respiratory services, including interventional bronchoscopy, thoracic ultrasound and insertion of chest drains, and complex pulmonary function tests;
•    Experience in the development of multidisciplinary outpatient services; familiarity with the leading better value care model would be desirable; 
•    As St Vincent’s will be a referral center for the National Lung Cancer screening program, experience working in a multidisciplinary lung nodule assessment clinic, and a commitment to the development of a model of care for this service would be desirable.
•    Lead and participate in the development of research and academia within the Department, particularly in the field of Sleep,  chronic airways disease and pulmonary physiology;
•    Participate in teaching duties at specialty registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;
•    Promotion of good patient care and the good reputation of the department and the hospital;
•    Participation in out-of-hours on-call respiratory medicine roster.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Position Title who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are Manager to include desired experience/attributes.

Selection Criteria:

  • Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State Award.
  • Has fulfilled all RACP requirements for accreditation as a Specialist in Thoracic Medicine and has worked in this capacity without supervision for at least 1 year.
  • Is prepared to provide clinical services in Thoracic Medicine including participation in an on-call roster and direct patient care. This will include undertaking a clinic 
  • Experience in fibreoptic bronchoscopy including bronchial washings, endobronchial and transbronchial lung biopsies.
  • Accreditation in Thoracic Ultrasound and experience in teaching and supervising
  • Registrars in this skill is desirable.
  • A strong background in teaching of students and Registrars and a leadership role in 
  • Thoracic education would be highly desirable.
