Lead Analyst, AML Compliance – Denver, CO

AML Compliance Analysts play a crucial role within Western Union’s Financial Intelligence Unit by helping protect the company and its customers from the risks associated with consumer fraud and money laundering. This will lead various projects that include the planning, scoping and testing for various Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Finance Terrorism and Fraud compliance controls for the design and development of front-end controls and back-office monitoring programs for Western Union's Compliance Systems and Analytics (CS&A) team. This lead role be vital in the implementation and enhancement of analytical tools for process streamlining, optimizing and maintaining legacy code, troubleshooting and addressing data problems wherever they exist to help minimize potential money laundering risk within the established strategies of the Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large datasets leveraging SQL and Python (Snowflake experience preferred) and write effective, scalable code to create and maintain complex queries.
  • Replicate risk-based controls and back-office monitoring programs with the ability to understand, interpret, and analyze data from multiple sources summarizing results to illustrate potential risk or control gaps for a global audience.
  • Must be able to effectively identify trends and patterns within large datasets and accurately summarize findings presenting risks, controls, and residual risks.
  • QA code or script review and testing ensure working accurately while supporting other members of the team by participating in peer code-review via SQL and testing cycles.
  • Present analytical data and control recommendations to business users at the Director/VP level/Executive level.
  • Demonstrate high initiative working multiple rule engineering projects with ability to simultaneously assist or job train others within the team.
  • This position will need to help in leading or supervising others.
  • You will need to be an excellent communicator, with strong analytical and collaborative skills. Fluency in English is required for the role any other languages would be a plus.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Anti Money Laundering Compliance, and Bank Secrecy Act from a financial service or payments background.
  • Understanding of Global Money Remittances Industry as it relates to AML and Fraud investigation processes and how they are used to mitigate risks showing ability to assess the level of risk cases present and prioritize accordingly.
  • Experience with query and stored procedure development and debugging, data preparation, data cleaning.
  • Experience working with Power BI and DAX scripting language is a plus.
  • Understanding of Point of Sale and Back Office automated controls and systems to determine the level of risk mitigation provided by each and propose enhancements where necessary.
  • Proven ability to identify and evaluate risks, as well as produce high quality materials for a global audience while communicating recommendations for control improvements in written and verbal form to all levels of management.

Salary

The annual gross base salary range is $78,000-$105,000 per year, which includes a base salary and short-term that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
