In this vital role you will be pivotal in shaping the data strategy that supports AI, business intelligence, and data integration patterns across the organization. The Data Architect will work closely with S/4HANA architects and functional architects across Amgen to ensure that S/4 data structures changes are seamless integrated across Amgen’s data ecosystem.

Roles Description:

  • Streamline Amgen’s data ecosystem to reduce complexity, risk, data redundancy.

  • Enforce data management standard methodologies for data sharing, including S/4HANA inbound and outbound data integrations and analytics.

  • Design efficient integration of S/4HANA data with enterprise data platforms (MDM, Reference Data, Data Fabric), functional data platforms, upstream and downstream systems.

  • Develop and maintain the data remediation roadmap to coordinate with downstream systems the sourcing of S/4HANA data from enterprise data platforms.

  • Architect and design the SAP data landscape, ensuring robust integration between SAP systems and analytics platforms (e.g., BW, S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud).

  • Define and enforce data architecture standards, methodologies, and best practices to ensure commitment, scalability, and reliability.

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to align architecture strategies with business requirements and data management principles.

  • Oversee the development of data models, ETL processes, and data pipelines that connect SAP data with various analytics tools (including both SAP and non-SAP platforms).

  • Define and implement the overall data flow, integration, and transformation strategies for analytics use cases, including predictive modeling, reporting, and dashboards.

  • Lead efforts to streamline and optimize SAP data for analytics consumption by designing systems that enhance data accessibility and usability.

  • Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure data models are aligned with reporting and analytical requirements across the organization.

  • Develop security protocols and strategies to safeguard sensitive SAP data across the analytics environment.

  • Partner with IT, business, and analytics teams to ensure alignment on data strategies and analytics goals.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to data engineers, developers, and analysts in the architecture and deployment of SAP-centric data solutions.

  • Evaluate new technologies and trends in SAP data architecture, cloud analytics, and big data, proposing solutions that align with Amgen’s data strategy.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 to 6 years of Business, Engineering, IT or related field experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 to 8 years of Business, Engineering, IT or related field experience OR

  • Diploma and 10 to 12 years of Business, Engineering, IT or related field experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Must-Have Skills:

  • Experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles with significant experience in SAP data environments.

  • Experience with Big Data Platforms, Data Warehousing, Data Lake, Data Mart, DataMesh/Data fabric concepts.

  • Proven expertise in SAP data management, and integration tools and technologies like Databricks, Tableau etc.

  • Solid experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and designing data warehouses.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP Fiori, SAP Data Sphere

  • Experience with cloud (e.g. AWS) and on-premises compute infrastructure

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills with a demonstrable ability to lead multi-functional teams.

  • Experience working in SAFe development environment.

Professional Certifications:

  • Agile Certified Practitioner (preferred)

  • SAP certification (preferred)

  • Databricks Certification (preferred)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts clearly to technical and non-technical collaborators.
