Who You Are

You are a hands-on technical lead for an engineering organization. You enjoy being embedded in a team, contributing high value code and mentoring other engineers. You are responsible for technical priorities, you pioneer new architectural paradigms and maintain the long term technology roadmap to ensure a lasting competitive advantage for the business. You consistently influence commercial decisions and ensure goals are understood and continuously worked towards across the tech organization. You seek a thorough understanding of the entire business and individual domains, and how they contribute to overall business strategy. You leverage relationships across the company to better plan for and position the engineering organization.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute code at a high level, leading by example and sharing knowledge with fellow engineers.

• Define the organization-wide strategy for AI/ML integration, pioneering new paradigms for intelligent automation, agentic systems, or data-driven product abilities that establish a long-term competitive advantage.

• Architect, guide, and govern foundational systems across all engineering domains, ensuring organizational architecture allows for iterative, autonomous development, high scalability, and alignment with future business needs.

• Take ownership and responsibility for organizational practices and processes and their continuous improvement, serving as the technical architect for the company's compliance framework and defining the multi-year strategic vision for organizational compliance.

• Establish the tech org’s long-term cost strategy, ensuring infrastructure spending is optimized to support a sustainable competitive advantage.

• Actively work with the security team to set and refine organization wide security strategy, fostering a security-first mindset across the organization.

• Mentor across the organization in an open, respectful, flexible, empathetic manner, fostering an organizational culture of mentoring.

• Effectively handle risk, change, and uncertainty across the organization, acting responsibly in their work without having the total picture during routine business or in high-pressure situations.

Required Experience

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in engineering, with a proven track record of designing and delivering foundational, organization-wide systems that drive significant business impact.

• Deep, full-stack expertise in defining and governing technical standards, architectural patterns, and engineering practices.

  • Preferably work in React, Typescript, Python and/or Ruby. 

  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.

• Demonstrated ability to create or redefine roadmaps across the organization with product and business counterparts.

• A history of fostering a culture of clear, concise, effective, audience-oriented communication across the company, ensuring teammates actively listen and are understood.

• Proven ability to lead incident response across the engineering organization and use systematic debugging to diagnose issues across the organization.
