PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations plans, coordinates and directs operational activities of the IT Infrastructure & Operations department, as well as provide hardware and data center resources for all IT solutions that support business operations. The Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all IT Hardware aspects of the organization. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Direct IT department operational short and long-term strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, cost-effective information processing and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.

•    Works with the IT Security department to ensure security standards and recommendations are implemented, maintained and reviewed.
•    Where necessary, re-engineer server and PC support to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
•    Develop and review budgets for IT operations & infrastructure and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
•    Review performance of IT operations and infrastructure systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
•    Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
•     •    Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware based on organizational needs.
•    Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts. 
•    Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
•    Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.  Including all remote complex facilities.
•    Develop and implement Operations and Infrastructure IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
•    Oversee negotiations working with Purchasing and Legal departments.  Administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements. Develop bid requirements, reviews submitted bids for compliance, and makes the appropriate award.
•    Direct IT Operations and Infrastructure staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
•    Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

•    Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, and successful service level agreement accomplishments.

•    Knowledge of protocols, standards, operating systems, and software

•    Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products.
•    Ability to present and communicate ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.

Education

•    Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution.
•    Minimum 10 years direct experience in infrastructure design and operations management in an IT managerial role within a large consumer goods manufacturing environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to be on call 24/7
  • Ability to travel to other locations
