About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Home Lending Technology team within Consumer Technology (CT). The Home Lending Technology organization is responsible for developing and maintaining innovative solutions that streamline the home lending process. This team focuses on the development and support of origination and fulfillment platforms for Wells Fargo Home Lending, with an emphasis on enhancing user experience, improving operational efficiency, reducing risk, and delivering seamless and efficient home loan experience for both customers and internal partners.
In this role, you will design, build, test, and support UI as well as Java‑based backend services, REST APIs, and microservices used across Home Lending servicing platforms. You will have opportunity to work on an application with complex integration, cloud native Microservices, including Agentic AI based workflow. You will strengthen core development skills in Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies, apply analytical thinking to solve technical problems, and gain experience working across both legacy and modern application stacks. You will have opportunities to learn event‑driven architecture concepts (Kafka/PubSub), contribute to UI enhancements using Angular or React, and participate in cloud‑aligned development as applications evolve within Consumer Lending’s technology ecosystem.
This role is ideal for developers with strong curiosity, a willingness to challenge themselves to solve real business/technical problems, and a passion for building real production‑grade solutions that support critical Home Lending workflows.
In this role, you will:
Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and projects associated with the technology domain, including installation, upgrades, and deployment efforts
Identify opportunities for service quality and availability improvements within the technology domain environment
Design, code, test, debug, and document for low to moderately complex projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
Review and analyze technical assignments or challenges that are related to low to medium risk deliverables and that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative technology domains
Present recommendations for resolving issues or may escalate issues as needed to meet established service level agreements
Exercise some independent judgment while also developing understanding of given technology domain in reference to security and compliance requirements
Provide information to technology colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
2+ years of Java development experience
2+ years of Java unit test case development experience
2+ years of JavaScript Frameworks experience such as with Angular or React JS
Desired Qualifications:
1+ years of cloud native micro service application development experience
1+ years of experience with developing automated functional testing using BDD
Spring boot application development experience
Agile Development methodologies
Tomcat application server experience
Oracle database experience
SQL experience
Hibernate experience
MongoDB or related NoSQL database experience
Kafka or related Data Streaming technology experience (Kafka, PubSub)
Cloud certification from any cloud providers
Experience with Domain Driven Design principles
Experience with application non-functional requirements including Monitoring (APM tools), Logging (Splunk), and Distributed tracing. Exposure to observability or monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, AppDynamics)
Experience in build and deploy tools such as Jenkins. Awareness of CI/CD processes in a large application environment
Experience using AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) or developing small AI prototypes such as chatbots, LLM prompts, or automated scripts
Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate within a team, and work in a fast‑paced learning environment
Knowledge and understanding of home mortgage origination process: applications, processing, and closing
Job Expectations:
This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular in‑office attendance as defined by the team and program requirements
Participation in an on-call rotation approximately once every six weeks to support production systems
