Per diem RN - Lactation Consultant - Women and Childrens Health -Days

The Lactation Specialist is responsible for the direct provision of effective and comprehensive nursing care to patients and their significant others. They will facilitate professional nursing practice by virtue of his/her clinical expertise and teaching abilities and act as a preceptor for new staff and students by providing them with a professional role model. Lactation Specialists will educate staff and patients and will support QA and QI initiatives. They will also support all  Baby-Friendly Hospital initiatives maintaining the highest standards of this prestigious designation.

This is a per diem day shift position at New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital site with an expectation of at least ​4 shifts worked per month.

This position is 12-hour shift.

Preferred Criteria:

Experience as a Lactation Consultant or Specialist Excellent communication skills, leadership, and teaching potential Experience with Baby-Friendly Hospital iniatatives

Required Criteria: 

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing 
• Current New York State License as a Registered Nurse (or willingness to obtain)
• IBCLC Certification
• BCLS certification thru AHA
