Specific Area of Responsibility:

 

  • Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment.
  • Carry out all administrative tasks as required by company procedures.
  • Work under guidelines as specified by the Master.
  • Assist in any other aspects of operations as directed by the Master, including maintenance and, pollution control etc.
  • Ensuring the planned maintenance system of the Company is carried out and up to date.
  • Maintaining sufficient bunkers and other essential engine related stores
  • Monitoring the consumption of fuel and lubricants.
  • Personally supervising the safe and efficient loading and transferring of bunkers.
  • Assisting with the preparation of dry-docking specifications, and with the supervision of repairs and structural alterations.
  • The control of all engine plans and instruction manuals and ensuring all are up to date.
  • The completion of the Oil Record Book (Part 1) as per the instructions contained in the book if required.
  • Completion of the Company’s maintenance forms and forwarding to the TS Engineer as per procedures
  • The daily inspection of the machinery onboard. The Chief Engineer is to sign the Engine Room Logbook daily to show that the inspections have been undertaken.

  • The testing of all emergency stand-by machinery and recording such tests in the Engine Room Logbook. .                                                                                   
  • The general condition and maintenance of thrusters, auxiliary and air conditioning etc.
  • To maintain the computerized planned maintenance program such as Sertica program ,
  • Supervision of personnel undertaking and assisting in the engineering function
  • Participation in safety training, including the training of other crew member
  • Preparation of operational and maintenance reports as required
  • Ensuring day to day compliance with relevant environment regulations
  • Monitoring and review of relevant occupational health and safety standards and procedures and reporting as appropriate
  • Participation in operational improvement exercises
  • Comply with the regulations of the company safety management system HMS.
