Job Summary:

The Logistics Assistant is a position designed for northeast Georgia high school students to experience 3PL logistics and the Syfan Logistics culture. This position provides basic administrative and communications support to logistics operations team members and management.

Essential Duties:

  • Scans and copies logistics and accounting related documents such as bills of lading, tenders, invoices and other logistics operations and accounting related documents as requested.
  • Provides basic communications support through answering phone calls by redirecting inbound carrier and customer calls to the correct operations team members.   
  • May be asked to communicate basic information to carriers as requested and while under the oversight and direction of management and/or assigned operations team members.
  • May be asked to provide basic coordinating functions such as scheduling meetings between team members and management.   
  • Will learn the fundamentals of routing and dispatching through job shadowing and observation.
  • Will learn the importance of maintaining pick-up and delivery times for all shipments.
  • Will learn the fundamentals of tracking the movements of drivers to shippers and receivers.

Experience and Skills:

  • Intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, safe internet navigation, keyboard proficiency)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ability to pay close attention to details
  • Is organized and has the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates satisfactory or above attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work in a high call volume environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and pressured environment
  • Communicates effectively with others while being able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to think critically, using logic and reasoning to identify problems and works towards solutions
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism in a professional manner

Education Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a county school partner with Syfan Logistics

       •     Demonstrates a commitment to learning about the transportation industry

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.   

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position will offer a schedule during daytime business hours, afternoons or possibly weekend daytime hours.
