About the job:
Project manager in Treasury-Banking department is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of integrating new payment methods into a bank’s core-banking system.
This role involves coordination between multiple departments (IT, Treasury, Operations, Compliance etc.) ensuring that the new payment system functions seamlessly within the existing architecture, complies with regulatory standards, and enhances customer experience.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Project planning and scope definition
- Define the project’s scope, objectives, and deliverables, specifically related to integrating the payment method into the core banking system.
- Develop a detailed project plan with timelines, milestones, and budget forecasts.
- Ensure alignment of the project with the bank's overall strategy, compliance standards, and customer service goals.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with key stakeholders, including business units, technology teams, payment providers, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and address technical and business challenges.
- Act as a point of contact between stakeholders to ensure transparency, proper communication, and swift resolution of issues.
Integration
- Oversee the technical integration of the payment method into the bank’s core system, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.
- Work closely with IT architects and developers to design system interfaces, data flow processes, and payment workflows.
- Ensure that the payment method integration supports security protocols, encryption standards, and data privacy requirement
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Oversee the testing phase, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensure that the new payment method is fully tested for functionality, security, and performance before going live.
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams to validate that the system integration works as expected without disrupting existing operations.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including project plans, system design specs, test cases, and approvals.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management, detailing project status, risks, and mitigations.
- Ensure proper documentation for audit purposes, particularly around compliance and data security.
Skills and experience required:
- Project Management Expertise: Deep knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (MS Project, JIRA, etc.).
- Core Banking System Knowledge: Strong understanding of core banking systems (e.g., Temenos, Finacle) and how payment processing works within these platforms.
- Technical background: Experience with payment gateways, APIs, and banking technologies like SWIFT, SEPA, or real-time payment systems.
- Risk Management: Ability to foresee and manage risks related to system integration, cybersecurity, and operational disruptions.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership to guide cross-functional teams, with excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly resolve issues related to technical challenges, stakeholder disagreements, or resource constraints.
