Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Manager 2 Flight Sciences (Propulsion) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This hands-on leadership role is located in Melbourne, FL.
As a Section Manager, you will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately fifteen engineers who are responsible for meeting aircraft propulsion integration, performance, analysis and test program needs. This position reports to the Flight Sciences Department Manager within the Vehicle Engineering functional homeroom team.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training, and tools
Process oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions
Staffing responsibilities such as hiring, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that engineers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed
Managing training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required.
Team engagement is a key focus as is mentoring and providing career guidance and coaching
In addition to functional Section Manager duties, the candidate will perform propulsion IPT engineering tasks, which will comprise most of the statement of work (approx. 80%)

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 9 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline AND 7 years of related professional/military experience
Familiarity with propulsion integration, performance, analysis and test on fixed wing aircraft
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years or under continuous evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Special Program Access
Experience managing or interfacing with engine suppliers
Prior experience as a lead or manager of an engineering team (such as IPT Lead, Functional Manager, Small Group/Project/Program Lead)
Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills and ability to build diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members
Experience with requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
Experience with aircraft engine physical and functional integration for military applications
Experience with engine cycle performance and data analysis
Experience creating or running computer models using MATLAB, C++, Simulink, FORTRAN, or a similar program
Experience with CAD tools such as Siemens NX
Engine Ground Test and/or Flight Test support experience
