Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating and performing professional billing activities such as notify, consent, and good faith estimates in Epic in accordance with the requirements of the No Surprise Billing Act (NSBA). This position will utilize Epic tools, such as WQs, reports, and modules/applications to complete these activities for self-pay services, uninsured patients, and patients with non-contracted plans in specific settings. Additionally, this position will process applicable pre-service payments and may assist in coordinating and performing the out of network authorization and single case agreement processes for patients with non-contracted plans.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work Epic WQs and reports containing scheduled services to identify and verify non-contracted coverage assignment, uninsured and self pay services. Responsible for completing the good faith estimate process in Epic for scheduled self pay services, uninsured patients and patients with non-contracted plans in specific settings.

  • Communicate with patients and process payments prior to service date.

  • Works with division, clinical and scheduling teams on the Epic referral triage process. Engages with pre-arrival, pre-certification and WUPN staff to secure out of network authorizations and single case agreements. If either cannot be obtained, then this position ensures the services are canceled.

  • Routinely interacts with physicians, clinical staff, department and division administrators and personnel. Serves as the liaison for the department, division, patients and affiliated hospital systems to coordinate notify, consent, signature, good faith estimate, estimate delivery, OON authorization and single case agreement when applicable.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$20.57 - $30.84 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
