Your Impact

We’re looking for a dynamic Director of Content Strategy & Operations to build and lead a centralized content and copy function that drives strategic content for both pre-sales and post-sales. In this role, you will shape and execute content strategies that support our marketing goals across a matrixed global organization. This leader will work cross-functionally with Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Digital Marketing, and Creative Production (Design and Video), managing our DAM, copywriting, and localization teams to deliver content that speaks to our brand and resonates with diverse global audiences.

What You’ll Do

Location: Denver/Boulder OR Scottsdale OR Seattle
Reports to: VP, Marketing Operations
Direct Reports: Digital/Content Asset Management (DAM), Copywriting, and Localization Teams

  • Develop and Lead Content Strategy: Design and execute pre-sales and post-sales content strategies aligned with Axon’s marketing goals, to ensuring our content elevates Axon's brand and supports targeted demand generation efforts.
  • Build and Manage a Centralized Content Team: Oversee the Digital Asset Management (DAM), Copywriting, and Localization teams, defining roles and workflows that allow for scalable content production and global reach.
  • Drive Copywriting and Localization Excellence: Lead efforts to create impactful, brand-aligned copy across multiple formats (blogs, video, social, etc) and channels that can be tailored for international audiences, ensuring quality and consistency across global markets.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Digital Marketing, and Creative Production teams to align content with broader campaigns and product launches.
  • Optimize Content Operations: Establish and continuously improve content processes, tools, and templates to streamline asset creation, approval, and distribution. Ensure our DAM system is effectively utilized to manage and repurpose assets.
  • Implement Content Performance Metrics: Establish KPIs to evaluate content effectiveness and guide data-driven decisions. Regularly analyze content performance and optimize based on insights to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Audience-Centric Focus: Deeply understand the target audience to create relevant and compelling content that resonates and builds loyalty, with the ability to adapt strategies based on customer feedback, market shifts, and engagement metrics.
  • Brand & Market Positioning: Ensure all content reinforces brand positioning, differentiates Axon in the marketplace, and stays current with industry trends to inform innovative ideas that help us stay competitive.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in content strategy, content operations, or similar roles within marketing, with a strong background in developing global content strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performing content teams.
  • Deep understanding of content operations, digital asset management (DAM) systems, localization technologies, and other tools or workflows, with the ability to drive efficiencies and scalability.
  • Outstanding writing expertise, with a talent for creating, overseeing and editing persuasive, high-quality content that reflects the brand's voice.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working across diverse teams to align on and deliver content strategy.
  • Experience with global marketing and localization, with the ability to adapt content for different cultures and languages while preserving brand integrity.
  • Data-driven mindset and familiarity with content performance metrics to assess and improve content effectiveness.

90 Days at Axon

At Axon, we prioritize meaningful progress from day one. Here’s what you can expect in your first 90 days:

First 30 Days:

  • Meet the Team: Build relationships with key stakeholders across the marketing organization, including Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, Demand Gen, and Creative Production.
  • Understand the Landscape: Deep dive into Axon’s brand, current content assets, and marketing goals to develop an understanding of the existing content ecosystem.

First 60 Days:

  • Strategic Alignment: Present an initial content strategy, editorial calendar and operations plan, aligning with global marketing priorities and growth goals.
  • Quick Wins: Identify and implement improvements in content processes and workflows to enhance efficiency.

90 Days & Beyond:

  • Execute Content Strategy: Begin executing on content initiatives, focusing on scaling content output to meet pre-sales and post-sales needs.
  • Track Performance: Implement KPIs and start tracking content impact to guide future decisions and improvements.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 145,800 in the lowest geographic market and USD 233,280 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
