Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital offers echocardiography services, also known as an echocardiogram, to evaluate heart function and diagnose heart conditions. A specific type, the dobutamine stress echocardiogram, assesses the heart's reaction to stress, while the general service can be part of an overall cardiac evaluation. As the Echocardiology Supervisor, you will manage and coordinate the administrative and technical operations of the Cleveland Clinic Health System Echo Labs. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 4:00PM, with on-call requirements. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Supervise the daily activities of the Echo Labs staff and assign staff to meet the demands. 

  • Manage the on-call schedule. 

  • Act as a clinical consultant to staff, nurses and physicians regarding advanced procedures and new technologies. 

  • Assist with administrative functions, policies, procedures and cardiac protocol development. 

  • Communicate and provide training/education of new procedures and protocols to the staff and nursing. 

  • Train new staff and communicate procedure/protocol changes. 

  • Participate in peer interviews, the hiring process and mid-year and annual reviews. 

  • Provide disciplinary action and coordination of performance improvement plans. 

  • Perform Daily QA and identify areas of quality improvement. 

  • Provide ongoing feedback to maximize quality.     

  • Manage Payroll. 

  • Assist with the accreditation process. 

  • Perform echocardiograms in the lab and at the bedside, when necessary. 

  • Create and maintain interpreting physician schedules (CC and non-CC physicians). 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited Allied Health Program 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI) registry status 

  • Five years of experience in cardiac ultrasound 

  • Experience in transesophageal echocardiography 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Experience in neonatal and pediatric echocardiography 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent computer entry, lifting and moving patients, reaching, standing and walking.

  • Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech.

  • Ability to push and maneuver 500 pound equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
