About the role:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining next-generation in-house developed accounting applications. By harnessing the power of massive processing capabilities and CPU-intensive technologies, you will enhance our accounting systems for both consumer and small business lending divisions. Your innovative solutions will drive efficiency, positioning our company at the forefront of the financial industry.

You will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and enhancing our accounting platforms that empower our products to streamline their financial processes, ensure compliance, and help our businesses to make informed decisions. Your expertise will contribute to the development of software that is integral to our customer’s operational ledger accuracy as well as the financial reporting for our company.

You will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, advocate for a high-quality codebase, and eliminate roadblocks. You will also enhance our collaborative environment by mentoring and sharing knowledge with your team's engineers.

  Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Principals, Accountants and other engineering stakeholders to deliver new functionality as well as maintain/improve existing functionality within our accounting platforms.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using the Go and Ruby programming languages.
  • Develop test automation to fully test your code and conduct thorough testing of software components to ensure they meet functional requirements.
  • Apply best practices in software design, including modularity, reusability, and scalability, to ensure the long-term viability of the applications.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve our accounting platforms by adding new features and optimizing performance.
  • Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback to peers and ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, API documentation, and user guides.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and progress to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Design and develop solutions using event-driven architectures
  • Work towards project completion through end-to-end involvement, ensuring attention to detail, estimating work, and breaking up problems into deliverable parts.
  • Enhance our collaborative environment by supporting the engineers on your team through mentorship and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a software engineer, with previous experience developing accounting systems 
  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages.
  • Familiarity with relational databases / SQL
  • Expertise with building software features, enterprise architecture, and API integration to facilitate first in class software.
  • Experience collaborating with product managers and technical/business stakeholders to plan and scope deliverables iteratively. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
