Description:

First Cook - Rotating Shifts

The First Cook Supports and adheres to the Hospital’s Mission, Vision and Values Statements and performs according to the Hospital’s standards for Customer Service. Responsible for the production of hot food items according to the production sheet, utilizing standardized recipes. Prepares and cooks foods as assigned by First Cook. Replenishes foods to tray assembly area and cafeteria, as needed. Assures timely, high quality production of all items. Completes all assignments on production sheet, daily. Maintains work areas in a clean and sanitary manner. Follows principles of HACCP food safety, and assures that foods are wrapped, labeled and dated properly for storage. Operates all production equipment in a safe and sanitary manner. Reports equipment problems to Food Service Manager or Food Service Supervisor. Maintains organization of freezer and refrigerators.

This is a full time rotating shifts position located at NewYork-Presbyterian / Lower Manhattan Hospital.

Base Shifts for this role will be following:

6:00 am to 2:00 pm

6:30 pm to 2:30 pm

12:00 pm- 8:00 pm

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or GED
• ServSafe Food Handler’s Certificate
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in high volume, hospital food production Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements for food safety
• Knowledge of issues pertaining to food safety and sanitation
