About the Role

This is a great opportunity to work on a broad range of matters and make a tangible contribution to Pipe’s growth and geographic expansion. This role provides the opportunity to work on a diverse set of projects and issues as the firm grows in the UK and expands into new geographies in the EU. Reporting to a U.S.-based Legal & Compliance Manager, this role also serves as the Money Laundering Registered Officer (“MLRO”) and other representative roles for Pipe Technologies UK Limited.

You are a collaborative team-player, well-equipped to develop relationships and work closely with colleagues and leaders in other geographies and functional areas, including Finance, Product, Risk, Product, Sales, and Servicing.

You will work with stakeholders throughout Pipe to support growth in a manner that complies with financial services, AML/CFT, payments, and other relevant requirements in the UK and EU. You will be directly involved in executing Pipe’s compliance management system/program elements, such as compliance monitoring and testing, policies and procedures, training, and serving as a point of contact for external party monitoring, audits, and regulatory exams.

Prior experience in a compliance role within the UK is required and experience interfacing with regulatory agencies (such as FCA, NCA, and various EU regulators) will be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Compliance program, including transaction monitoring, investigations, customer due diligence, compliance risk assessments, governance (oversight and reporting), and systems (e.g., GRC, complaints, ethics, prohibited industry lists)
  • Coordinate with business and operations teams during the client onboarding approval process in support of an optimal customer experience
  • Actively partner with global function teams to execute shared compliance-specific projects and responsibilities
  • Perform reviews, monitoring, or testing to identify potential compliance risks and draft compliance reports with recommendations
  • Support implementation of policies, systems, controls to reduce risk
  • Support development and implementation of the compliance training policy aimed to educate employees about regulatory and legal requirements
  • Stay updated on major regulatory changes with impact to the firm
  • Effectively interface with regulators on inquiries, filings, and examinations, and external parties on audits, monitoring, and other activities
  • Serve as MLRO for UK entity

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant compliance experience at a financial institution or fintech company
  • Fundamental understanding and working knowledge of compliance-, anti-money laundering-, and sanctions-related laws and regulations (including UK MLR)
  • Experience with one or multiple compliance functions, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, customer due diligence, and customer risk assessment
  • Experience working with the elements of a compliance program, including risk assessment, monitoring and testing planning, third-party oversight, and compliance training
  • Experience effectively communicating compliance risks associated with product proposals and advising stakeholders on developing both customer-facing content and key operational controls
