About The Role
Kong’s API Management suite, Konnect, offers customers the ability to create managed API gateways in any cloud across the world. We offer two flavors of managed gateways Dedicated Cloud Gateways and Serverless Gateways. This role is an engineering leadership role of the Managed Gateways org.
This opportunity requires you to work from our office in Bangalore, India in a hybrid manner with three days in the office and Two days working from home. As a leader, we expect you to efficiently maximize your time with the team and deliver outcomes.
 
What You'll Do

Kong’s API  Management suite, Konnect, offers customers the ability to create managed API gateways in any cloud across the world. We offer two flavors of managed gateways Dedicated Cloud Gateways and Serverless Gateways. This role is an engineering leadership role of the Managed Gateways org.

What You'll Do
-Build high-performing engineering teams 

-Attract, retain, and grow engineering talent across Kong

-Own the technical success of the managed gateways platform, ensuring it delivers the highest quality and reliability in the market

-Architect and operate software at four-nines or higher reliability (99.99% SLA)

-Be intimately involved in setting the technical direction for managed gateways

-Produce the highest quality offering of managed gateways in the market.

-Collaborate with product leadership to define and refine the strategy, roadmap, and objectives for managed gateways, aligning engineering efforts with business goals.

-Manage execution of multiple work streams in an agile fashion

-Interface with the field and customers to learn about use cases and challenges and use that knowledge to drive innovation

-Own objectives that lead directly to business outcomes that enhance Kong’s revenue

What You'll Bring
-Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science

-8+ years of experience in engineering management
 
-4+ years of experience being a manager of managers 

-5+ years of SaaS experience in developing and operating software that operates at 99.99% reliability or higher

-Track record of bringing new SaaS offerings to the market 

-Expert understanding of infrastructure software or platforms

-Experience designing, prototyping, building, and debugging microservices architectures and distributed systems.

-Experience in monitoring and observability of code for high availability, resilience, and performance

-Experience developing and supporting a large-scale SaaS platform with working knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes (k8s)

-Experience with public cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Bonus Points
-Experience with Datadog/OpenTelemetry.
-Experience with working or developing L4/L7 proxies such as Nginx, HA-proxy, Envoy, or others.
-Contributions at technical conferences or meetups as a speaker.
