Real Estate Research Co-op Analyst Overview:

StepStone offers Co-op Analysts an opportunity to achieve valuable learning experiences working across the real estate private equity industry. The Co-op Analyst will work in a team environment to target and perform due diligence on primary fund investments and secondaries transactions and gain exposure to GP-led secondaries, recapitalizations, and co-investment transactions. Through analyses of opportunistic, value-add, core/core-plus, and credit funds, the Co-op Analyst will gain exposure to an array of real estate property types, markets, capital structures, and investment strategies. The Co-op Analyst will support investment teams in the evaluation of investments, portfolio and asset management, and primary fund due diligence. The Co-op Analyst will have the opportunity to prepare and present recommendations, with the investment team, to the StepStone Real Estate Investment Committee.

Essential Internship Functions:

  • Assist both the investment management and advisory teams in key job functions, primarily the underwriting and assessment of prospective fund managers. Responsibilities include reviewing the marketing and supporting materials to identify key value drivers and important areas for further investigation
  • Perform market research using publicly available information and proprietary databases to identify, quantify, and analyze macroeconomic trends across a variety of property types
  • Interpret financial analyses prepared by operating fund managers, including investment track records, financial statement analysis, and fund models
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with potential partners and fund managers
  • Efficiently communicate a position verbally and in written materials, including defending a position in a team environment such as Investment Committee meetings
  • Support full-time staff on coverage responsibilities including: asset and portfolio management deliverables and sourcing and managing the inflow of investment opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work full-time in our New York City office from January 2025 - June 2025
  • Must be able to work legally in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Undergraduate student graduating anywhere from December 2025 through June 2026
  • Pursuing a BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Accounting, Law, or equivalent relevant experience
  • GPA of a 3.2 and above
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Demonstrated track record of academic success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable analytical capabilities, including strong quantitative/modeling skills
  • Team player and strong work ethic
  • Enthusiastic interest in real estate investing

Salary Range: $83,200 - $83,200

The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position.  Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience.  The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
