Director of Digital Engineering

JOB LOCATION:  350 Campus Drive, Marlborough, MA 01752

Duties

Design, develop, and deliver the end-to-end technical solutions for all the member facing Digital Channels Technology initiatives. The Director will be responsible for the cocreation of the solution approach along with the architecture team, rationalization of the solution, presentation/communication of the solution, and as a key person responsible to deliver ensuring the best member experience possible.

Job Responsibilities: • Manage end-to-end design and development Digital eCommerce website and associated platforms including 3rd party systems, making sure entire technology operations team delivers great customer experience shopping online.

• Lead and implement organization strategies as well as manage a team of full time employee.

• Interact with a range of people, from highly technical software developers to Senior Executive stakeholders.

• Author and review the content for Solution Design Documents including Context Diagrams, Application Models, Application Profiles, Use Cases, Logical Application Models, Process Models, Logical Data Models, and High-Level Designs. • Ensure design alignment with overall solution architecture.

• Participate in review sessions (grooming) to gather and clarify business requirements, remove ambiguity. • Work with technology/business partners (Architecture, Infrastructure, etc...) as needed to drive design of solutions.

• Technical support through Development, Testing, and Deployment in agile working model.

• Proactive, regular communications with business, technology partners, and management to keep informed of status, changes, or issues.

• Develop and ensure compliance with architecture principles and standards for the various systems and components based on design patterns.

• Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture.

• Acts as an advocate for the customer, as the ultimate authority on the architecture designed to address business or technical requirements.

• Maintains an awareness and understanding of competing products and provides ideas for innovation and improvement in order to maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

• Mentor other team members in teams. Comfortable leading technical teams collaboratively through design processes.

• Recruit, grow and retain a group of high-performing technology full stack architects and developers.

Requirements 

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field or foreign equivalent plus 10 years experience as a Software Engineering Manager or Lead or related; 10 years experience in design and development of solutions in eCommerce domain; IBM WebSphere Commerce; Java, JavaEE, object-oriented programming, front-end applications (UI development) using Single Page Application (SPA), JavaScript, react, Angular and Node, Docker, Cloud Foundry, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, Maven, Spring Boot, micro-services, KAFKA, SOLR; 4 years experience supervising and supporting a development team, and experience driving innovative solutions; Experience may gained concurrently.
