We are seeking a cleared or clearable, experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our software engineering team in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role you will lead engineering teams in designing and building complex offensive cyber software products.

The Cincinnati location (a.k.a. Xetron) is part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector and works with various government organizations designing and building custom hardware and software solutions. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will split your time between serving as a Section Manager, managing a group of engineers, and as a Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Lead managing engineering activities on one or more assigned programs. 

Section Manager responsibilities include:

  • Managing and guiding roughly 15 direct report engineers

    • Setting objectives and monitoring progress

    • Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload

    • Providing timely, constructive support and feedback

    • Identifying mentoring and career development opportunities

    • Providing appropriate tools and resources

  • Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring engineering talent

  • Supporting our business culture through engagement activities

SEIT Lead responsibilities include:

  • Leadership of program technical execution to meet cost and schedule constraints

  • Program staffing for optimal execution

  • Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members

  • Working programs, proposals, or internally-funded activities in a technical or leadership role

  • Risk and opportunity planning and execution

  • Strategic problem solving

  • Earned value management

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM-related field

  • 5 years of software engineering experience (or 3 years with a MS degree)

  • Demonstrated technical leadership, engineering management, and/or program management experience

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills

  • US Citizen required

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance (NG will sponsor)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance

  • Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent

  • Experience in multiple relevant technology areas such as: cyber tool development, reverse engineering, vulnerability research, application software, graphical user interfaces, web applications, or embedded software

  • An ability to showcase the company’s capabilities to existing and potential customers to support business development activities

  • Experience with U.S. Government contracts

  • Experience managing budgets, examples of process improvement initiatives and experience with program audits

  • Advanced degree(s) in engineering or management

Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $172,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
