The Manager, Tax Accounting and Analytics role is responsible for interaction with business-line counterparts in strategic business units (SBUs), accounting, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A), participating in consolidated tax provision review, work paper preparation, and development of new tools for the provision process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the tax team, SBU tax, and other functions within finance to provide high quality tax reporting.
- Work with SBU tax accounting specialists to supervise developments impacting the tax provision, review and analyze tax provision work papers submitted by SBU tax, including support for deferred tax balances, disclosures, uncertain tax positions, memos, etc.
- Assist in managing the timing, assignments, and review of internal tools for quarterly, annual, and budget reporting cycles.
- Along with SBU counterparts, assess legislative changes in assigned countries for impacts on tax provision, effective tax rate, non-GAAP earnings, and disclosures.
- Coordinate and reconcile consolidated forecast and budget earnings with FP&A, analyzing variances and impact to effective tax rate.
- Identify, develop, and capture efficiency improvements in line with annual targets.
- Maintain and improve numerous files, models, and work papers leveraging and combining technologies such as SAP BPC, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and others.
Qualifications:
- Ability to self-organize and coordinate with other tax members across different offices.
- Excellent judgment and verbal communication skills, including synthesis and presentation of data narratives. Ability to analyze tax accounting positions, perform variance analysis, and advise on ASC 740 implications.
- Willingness to challenge current processes and procedures with an emphasis on developing process improvements to gain overall efficiencies.
- Understanding of US GAAP tax accounting rules (ASC 740 and related) preferred.
- Experience with accounting for international operations a plus.
- Exceptional technology skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Power BI; experience with SAP BPC, Alteryx, and other reporting, analytics, and modeling tools a plus.
- Strong organizational, management, and writing skills.
- Five years or more of Big 4 accounting firm and/or large corporate tax department experience preferred.
