The technical breadth of the Operational Engineering Lead role extends across maintenance standards and performance; equipment reliability and performance; environmental sustainability; Engineering Compliance and adherence to related Engineering Standards and ways of working.   

   

However, the individual’s core accountability will be delivering improvement programs to achieve site’s reliability, productivity, and maintenance efficiency as well as responsibility of driving governance processes for Operational Engineering. 

 

This role involves approx. 30% travel across continental Europe, UK, and US (US once per year) visiting various GSK sites. The successful candidate will benefit from Performance with Choice and report into their home location a minimum of two days per week. 

 

In this role you will…   

  • Deploy Operational excellence methods & programmes (including shop floor level if necessary) ensuring they deliver anticipated value in support Productivity targets (including Value Driven Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, LEAN tools, Reliability Based Maintenance, Vertical Start Up etc.). 

  • Once up & running, programme manage multiple sites through delivery of benefits. 

  • Ensure KPIs for Operational Engineering activities are in place / in use & effective in driving performance & improvement.   

  • Lead and use benchmarking internally & externally to identify current performance level and next performance level against best practice & improvement opportunitiesWork with the site to update their GPS road map and prioritize activities.  

  • Play a lead role in deployment of central systems, standardising methodologies across MG. 

  • Drive the Asset Life cycle and asset performance management programme across Biologics & Devices Sites to ensure compliance, performance reliable and cost-effective assets are installed and operated until the end ot their life cycle. 

  • Savings tracking & Opex Budget oversight for maintenance & reliability activities. 

  • Develop & deploy the overall capability strategy for operational engineering in the sites / Manufacturing GroupDemonstrate success through site performance improvement & enhanced site capabilities. 

  • Ensure effective governance and compliance with Engineering expectations, programmes & standards to agreed timescales & that they have robust governance processes to ensure sustained Engineering performance and compliance.  

  • Ensure effective Capital governance for the Manufacturing Group to deliver Capital plan in compliant manner 

  • Facilitate environmental sustainability programme across CO2 emissions, Water and Waste for Manufacturing group – support site diagnostics, programme definition and project planning to meet GSK sustainability goals. 

 

Why you?  

Basic Qualifications & Skills: 

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: 

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Chemical Engineering. 

  • significant post graduate experience in a high intensity, highly cost focused manufacturing business.   

  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of operational efficiency is a must, as is deep experience in deployment of Lean, Total Productive Maintenance, continuous improvement or equivalent toolkits. 

  • Must have experience in machines & production lines & in a high care / highly regulated environment such as pharma / healthcare / food / cosmetics / aeronautics. 

  • Must have experience in wide groups stakeholder management including Senior Management. 

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  •  MSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Chemical Engineering.
