Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) – Office-Based Anesthesia 

 About the Role 

We are seeking a Travel Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) - Ideally based in Rockford, IL -  to join our office-based anesthesia practice, supporting safe, high-quality care in a pediatric-focused outpatient environment. This role partners closely with licensed anesthesia providers and nursing staff to support sedation and anesthesia cases in a compliant, team-based model. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an RDA with sedation monitoring experience — or an RDA eager to obtain the appropriate Illinois-approved training — to work in a structured, professional OBA setting. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Monitor and document patient vital signs during sedation and anesthesia procedures 
  • Operate anesthesia monitoring equipment (pulse oximetry, BP monitoring, EKG, oxygen, suction) 
  • Assist with patient positioning, airway support, and recovery under provider direction 
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation 
  • Support emergency protocols and patient safety procedures 
  • Partner with anesthesia providers, RNs, and clinical staff to ensure smooth case flow 
  • Remain with patients through recovery until cleared for discharge per provider guidance 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in the State of Illinois 
  • BLS certification (required) 
  • Completion of an Illinois Board-approved sedation/anesthesia monitoring course 
  • OR willingness to obtain training upon hire 
  • One of the following: 
  • ≥1,000 hours of clinical dental assisting experience, or 
  • Graduation from a CODA-accredited dental assisting program, or 
  • Current DANB CDA credential 

 

Preferred Experience 

Prior experience in: 

  •  Sedation or anesthesia cases 
  •  Pediatric or surgical dental settings 
  •  Office-based anesthesia or outpatient procedural environments 
  •  Strong attention to detail and comfort in fast-paced clinical workflows
