The PLM will support lifecycle management of VIAVI’s Fiber Test Head (FTH) hardware which forms the foundation of ONMSi (Optical Network Management System) Centralised Fiber Test Systems deployed across telecom, dark fiber, utility, and mission critical networks.

The successful candidate will sit as the intersection across R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain, ensuring that product features and projects are delivered to meet customer use cases, aligned to roadmap priorities and timing. The PLM will contribute to new product introductions, sustaining activities, and roadmap execution for FTH elements that enable remote fiber test, monitoring, and analytics. This role will include supporting VIAVI teams responsible for integration architecture journeys of ONMSi into customer operational environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ONMSi Product Lifecycle:

  • Support end-to-end lifecycle management of centralized OTDR hardware used within ONMSi-based Remote Fiber Test Systems, from concept and NPI through sustaining and end-of-life.

  • Ensure hardware and software lifecycle decisions align with ONMSi system architectures, deployment models, and customer integration journeys.

Cross‑Functional Execution (PLM, R&D, Operations):

  • Act as a coordination interface between Product Line Management, OTDR hardware R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

  • Support translation of centralised test use cases into hardware roadmap specification requirements, industry standards and priorities.

New Product Introduction (NPI) – Centralized OTDR Hardware:

  • Contribute to planning and execution of NPIs for FTH solutions, including schedule tracking, cost targets, and manufacturing readiness.

  • Support validation of roadmap features against expected performance and integration deliverables.

Cost, Quality & Operational Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, component rationalization, and manufacturing efficiency across FTH’s without compromising monitoring performance or system reliability.

  • Support BOM analysis and lifecycle cost reviews in collaboration with Operations and Supply Chain teams.

Market & Voice of Customer Support:

  • Monitor and document customer use cases with voice of customer feedback, deployment learnings, and market trends related to enhance remote fiber centralized test systems and architectures.

  • Contribute to system competition benchmarking, market value and positioning that help feature prioritization.

Forecasting, Planning & Portfolio Support:

  • Support demand forecasting and supply planning activities for FTH hardware.

  • Assist in maintaining product roadmaps that reflect system evolution, FTH dependencies, and business priorities.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.

  • Three years of experience in product management, systems engineering, hardware development, or technical project roles within telecom, networking, or fiber test & measurement environments.

  • Clear understanding of fiber passive network elements and deployment use cases across the deployment, provisioning, and maintenance lifecycle.

  • Knowledgeable of system security and integration architectures into customer environments.

  • Strong analytical, tracking, organizational, and cross‑functional communication skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively across functional teams in an international environment.

  • Fluency in English and French.
