In this vital role you will be a member of the UPLIZNA U.S. Marketing Leadership Team and will lead the strategic direction of the thought leader liaison (TLL) organization across three approved indications: neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) and generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG). The TLL team is a commercial, field-based, customer-facing role focused on several key areas: (1) identifying and developing relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs); (2) developing and executing KOL engagement strategies, at congresses and throughout the year; (3) recruiting for speaker bureau and advisory activities; (4) generating insights to help inform and guide brand strategy; (5) and supporting local commercial initiatives, such as coordinating team activities at key accounts.

This role will lead a team of regional team leads who manage individual TLLs, as well as a Sr. Manager of Planning & Operations to support team activities. This individual will be expected to bring insights to help shape brand strategy and anticipate market events and champion cross functional collaboration with internal stakeholders. This role requires careful attention to compliance considerations, and a strong collaborative approach with field sales, patient access, field medical affairs, and other key stakeholders.

  • Develop and lead the Strategic direction of the TLL organization in line with Franchise goals.
  • Hire, develop and lead a high-performing TLL team in achieving key objectives.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings ensuring knowledge of key priorities and metrics to drive UPLIZNA business objectives.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the disease states, competitive landscape and therapeutic management across the brand’s approved indications.
  • Partner with internal, cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, R&D, Market Access, Marketing, Advocacy and Commercial Operations in the development and execution of strategies and tactics to ensure long-term adoption of UPLIZNA.
  • Understand gaps in the customer experience and provide recommendation for new business initiatives, trainings or interventions necessary to address.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual brand plan with responsibility for defining and executing key areas within the associated tactical plans.
  • Develop comprehensive annual KOL engagement plans, including congress activities
  • Build and maintains business relationships at all the necessary levels in the organization; interacts with and influences key cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead and support the TLL team to execute on strategic plans.
  • Lead the TLL insight generation strategy in partnership with key internal stakeholders.
  • Identify, develop and lead opportunities for key strategic partnerships with targeted and relevant societies and conferences to support insight generation, educational outreach and collaboration.
  • Lead the evolution and evolution of the Speaker Bureau.
  • Lead the TLL team to operate to the highest standards in alignment with Amgen’s code of business conduct, ensuring all interactions with KOLs are consistent with commercial, regulatory, and legal guidelines.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing and/or other commercial function experience

Or

Master’s degree and 8 years of marketing and/or other commercial function experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of marketing and/or other commercial function experience

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with 7+ years of commercial function experience across multiple therapeutic areas.
  • Experience leading a national TLL team, sales team, or marketing team, strongly preferred.
  • Experience in at least one of the brand’s priority therapeutic areas: neurology (neuroimmunology & neuromuscular sub-specialties), rheumatology, GI, and nephrology
  • Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience required.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and track record of developing team members.
  • Outstanding analytical and data management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the abilities to take ownership of issues, to work independently with confidence and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees and demonstrate strong collaboration skills.

Travel Requirements:

  • Requires approximately 30% travel, including overnight and some weekend commitments.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
