Job Summary**
The Global Category Specialist at Finning International Inc. is responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned categories, optimizing costs, improving supplier performance, and ensuring the continuous supply of high-quality goods and services across Finning's global operations.
Job Responsibilities**
* Develop and execute global category strategies, including market analysis, supplier identification, and competitive bidding processes.
* Negotiate complex contracts, terms, and conditions with global suppliers to achieve best value and mitigate risks.
* Manage supplier relationships, conduct regular performance reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through various sourcing strategies, such as demand management, standardization, and value engineering.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various business units and regions to understand requirements and align sourcing activities with business objectives.
* Monitor market trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes within assigned categories to inform sourcing strategies.
* Ensure compliance with Finning's procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
* Manage and resolve supplier issues, disputes, and performance discrepancies.
* Prepare and present reports on category performance, savings, and key metrics to senior management.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of global procurement processes and tools.
Job Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.
* 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement in a global organization.
* Proven track record of successfully managing complex categories, negotiating high-value contracts, and delivering significant cost savings.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, perform cost analyses, and develop sound business cases.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and multicultural environment.
* Strong understanding of supply chain principles, supplier relationship management, and contract law.
* Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
