About the role
What you need to know:
This role is responsible for supporting Domestic Intercompany business as part of the reinsurance finance controllership area. The individual will oversee a global functional team.
- Responsible for processing and review of quarterly accounting entries
- Broker/Reinsurer reporting including statements/bordereau
- Financial Reporting (GAAP/STAT, FAS5, CECL, 10Q/K, Schedule F, etc.)
- Partner closely with controllership, actuarial, accounting, and reinsurance teams on a regular basis to foster collaboration
- Team player willing to go outside defined roles and responsibilities for the benefit of the broader team.
- Internal and external reinsurance operationalization and associated financial booking
- Oversee specific reinsurance finance processes and associated controls
- Ability to adapt to a complex and fast paced work environment
- Provide guidance and recommendations when reviewing transformational activities including identification of optimal options and solutions to new and existing issues as they arise by leveraging knowledge of existing constraints
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree (finance major preferred)
- Detailed knowledge of Reinsurance including underwriting, claims, accounting, finance, and associated process, controls, and systems.
- 3+ year of relevant accounting experience
- Insurance/reinsurance company experience preferred
- Detailed knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the insurance/reinsurance markets, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Technical and/or analytic expertise that can be adapted to current technologies
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with significant experience interacting with senior management and external stakeholders
- Strong negotiation, analytical, decision making, problem resolution and organization skills
- Process transformation and control improvement experience
