Position Description:
To evaluate, plan, design, and implement solutions for Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Firewalls, Load Balancers, Avaya telephony systems, and other network infrastructure systems.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Implements switch, router, firewall, load balancer, disaster recovery, and VPN infrastructure strategy across the enterprise and/or at Affiliate sites.
Primary escalation point and Level 3 approver for all network change management activities and functions including the security/subnets/Vlans/cabling infrastructure to support eCommerce and other Internet or internal systems. Defines trunk groups and virtual switches configurations for various virtual server systems.
Designs, develops and/or implements tactical direction for network-based services such as wireless, workstation security agents, access control, intrusion detection, firewall, load balancer and WAN/SD-WAN optimization service.
Designs and develops bandwidth monitoring, syslog, and content filtering functions to ensure a viable production environment. Level 3 responder to Network related Incidents.
Participates in planning and coordination of work assignments, projects, internal policies, procedures, guidelines, and documenting work instructions and standards.
Supports Networking team members to be able to accomplish operational Run support duties, also known as Keeping the Lights On (KTLO). Includes developing and/or enhancing documented work instructions.
Utilizes platform based hypervisors to monitor, tune, optimize, and/or resolve data network anomalies.
Provides input to Lead Network Engineer and Network Architects on design solutions.
Advocates and works with other teams to build teamwork and cross team knowledge transfer. Presents at other teams' meetings, to provide awareness of all Network Team functions and roles.
Uses automation as primary means of consistent delivery and focuses on automation improvement areas. Presents to clients, suppliers, and affiliates on technical matters. May lead initiatives to implement changes or new processes. Assists in interfacing with 3rd party suppliers. Assists Network Manager with day to day team activities and escalates issues where appropriate.
Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.

Minimum Requirements:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, network engineering, information systems, or related field and five years' experience in network administration and engineering. Position requires one of the following certifications: Professional level Cisco Networking (CCNP - Data Center, Routing & Switching, Wireless, Security, Cloud or CCDP) certification or Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)/ Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or A10 Accredited Specialist or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment. Will accept any suitable combination or education, training or experience.
Position requires advanced knowledge of the following at varying levels depending on assignments: Network hardware including Cisco stackable switches, chassis switches, Enterprise routers, small remote routers; network communication protocols (BGP, TCP/IP, DHCP, etc.), network communication hardware (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, cabling, etc.), network topologies (Ethernet, VLANs, MPLS, VPNs, ISDN, etc.), network security infrastructure ( Firewall Services Modules, exploits, viruses, etc.), server operating systems (Windows, Linux, Netware, etc.), directory services, integration, network based printing systems, and telecommunication hardware and software (PBXs, IP phones, etc.); experience with network management systems similar to or including Nagios, SolarWinds Orion, Palo Alto Panorama, Live Action, and A10 Harmony Controller; ability to analyze and resolve complex problems; use independent judgment and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
Position requires the ability to provide on-call support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Occasional travel may be required to some enterprise sites.
