What you'll do:

As a Principal Engineer II, you'll provide your expert-level knowledge as the established authority in your domain as well as extensive knowledge across multiple domains to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant and reliable. You'll lead large and complex design efforts supporting critical projects and solutions while engaging with project and business sponsors defining requirements and objectives of targeted solutions. As a Principal Engineer II, you'll also engage in the facilitation of dialogue and large team activities, while ensuring collaboration to include teams outside of your domain. You'll develop effective presentations and narratives for business stakeholders and IT audiences.
  • Be responsible for guiding and directing assignments, coaching staff engineers, and leading technical discussions and decisions.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT driven initiatives and technical enablers and enhancements.
  • Manage the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure applications using the .NET framework and SQL Server directly, and through delegation to team members.
  • Ensure the creation of responsive front-end interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks, HTML, and CSS.
  • Provide expertise in the development and maintenance of APIs.
  • Design, implement, and optimize advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures.
  • Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Ensure the creation of clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code by the team.
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, and security.
  • Drive innovation and standards by staying up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends.
  • Manage application performance by monitoring metrics.
  • Contribute to, and set standards for, technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures, while ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Address and clearly communicate complex technical challenges and provide solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Manage incident calls and lead root cause analysis for incidents to identify and address underlying issues and assign resources for resolution.

What you'll need:

  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required; Masters or MBA in related field preferred.
  • Expertise in C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and API design and development.
  • Experience working with MS Azure technologies and infrastructure.
  • Expertise with front-end technologies like Angular, React, Typescript, Rest, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Expertise with source code version control systems (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the determination and drive to reach resolution or mitigation.
  • Expertise with system architecture and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team of engineers.
  • Expertise with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced to expert experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously with an established expertise in one or more key domains of the bank (Deposits, Loans, Operations or Reporting)with the ability to walk through top level process design. Capable of working with regulatory partners like the CFPB, OCC and FRB through audits and collaboration efforts as situations arise.
  • Advanced to expert familiarity with the capability model across IT and the applications and infrastructures available for engagement in solutioning across the bank to develop results that leverage existing capabilities in addition to implementing new solutions when required. Experience in the design, enhancement and compliance to all governance frameworks across the IT organization to ensure proper compliance to published procedures and standards.
  • Expert speaking and writing communication skills.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
