Job Description:   

Embry-Riddle is now hiring a Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Paramedic in the Health Services Department at the Daytona Beach campus. The Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Paramedic is responsible for both direct and indirect patient care duties under the supervision of the mid-level or upper level provider. The clinical staff member will be responsible with preparing patient rooms, ordering all supplies and assisting the provider with clinical tasks. Exceptional customer service is a must. Clinical Staff members are essential members of the ERAU healthcare team. This is a year-round, first shift position, and work hours are between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities include:

  • MA/LPN/Paramedic will collect subjective and objective data about a patient to identify patient’s problems; risks and outcomes for enhancing health. Identify health related barriers to learning. MA/LPN/Paramedic will prioritize patient care as it pertains to severity and potential for causing harm. Employee will be responsible for measuring vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, temperature, and document all information in patient’s electronic medical records. Take telephone messages and provide feedback to patient and healthcare team.
  • Employee will assist providers with exams if needed, prepare patients for exams, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic lab tests such as urinalysis, strep, mono, COVID-19 and flu testing.
  • Employee will be responsible to keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and clean all rooms.
  • Employee will be proficient in EKGs, venipuncture and non-intravenous injections.
  • Ordering of all medical and laboratory supplies
  • Keeping record of all quality assurance with the point-of-care testing such as quality controls and ensure training of all staff.
  • Maintain all records and training for biohazardous waste.
  • May occasionally fill in at the front desk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Paramedic
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of related work experience

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of EMRs
  • The ability to display proficiency in performing EKGs, phlebotomy and administering injections
  • Excellent bedside manner and time management skills
  • Understanding and compliance with HIPAA and FERPA
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Team player
