This team is leaders in heart care, distinguished by not only their skills, experience and knowledge, but also their ability to help patients return to active, productive lives. As a Patient Access Coordinator in Cardiology, you will organize the activities and workflow of the Patient Access area. This role will allow you to create a foundation in healthcare and explore opportunities at Cleveland Clinic. Your fellow caregivers will encourage you to enhance your skills and explore advanced Customer Service, Clerical or Clinical positions.  

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area. 

  • Assign tasks, monitor performance and assist in training patient service representative. 

  • Screen candidates, recommend hires, conduct performance appraisals and recommend corrective counseling. 

  • Develop, implement, and oversee programs to improve appointment utilization such as the reminder and follow-up on no-show/cancellation program. 

  • Coordinate activities and resolve operational problems. 

  • Adjust employees, patients, and physicians' schedules to respond to operational problems. 

  • Update metrics on visual management boards.

  • Document anecdotal information regarding caregiver performance.

  • Control and audit the reconciliation of day sheets including adjusting statistics in the computer data bank. 

  • Produce reports as needed. 

  • May travel monthly or as needed to Louisville.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Two years Cleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or other equivalent position, which includes interacting with patients, physicians and other departments on a problem resolution basis OR three years external outpatient scheduling experience where demonstrated experience includes resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others OR an Associate Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor's Degree

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds.
