The Operation Assistant will support the general operations of Newcomb Hall and associated facilities around Grounds including both student activity and academic spaces. Operations Assistants will provide front-line customer service and reception for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Assistants will complete specific project and duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the office.


Operations Assistants will be required to assist with all departmental functions and at all locations as required. Assistants will be scheduled for several hours during the day and evening, Sunday through Saturday, and hours may vary based on the students’ class schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Staff 3rd floor Service Desk to support urgent event needs and CIO tabling check-out ​
  • Provide directions/information to guests entering on 3rd floor ​
  • Enforce policies and procedures and make sure clients are compliant.
  • Complete setups, breakdown, and resets in all event spaces ​​
  • Complete closing procedures for NHL ​
  • Assist with monitoring event spaces for proper use
  • Complete daily rounds, monitor, and communicate problems or equipment/supplies needs and/or missing equipment to professional staff.
  • Providing administrative support by answering phones in a friendly and timely manner, greeting visitors, and providing information on events, policies, systems, and services.
  • Work all assigned shifts and be willing to cover other shifts as needed to ensure full coverage.
  • Work with event clients on last-minute changes or needs (complete late change form)
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to perform moderately heavy physical duties (i.e., lifting and setting up equipment up to 30 lbs.)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Hourly Rate: $13.91/hour

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
