Built-in Quality Digitalization Expert Intern will support the transformation of quality assurance processes through digital tools and data-driven solutions. This role focuses on integrating quality into the design and execution of manufacturing and operational workflows, leveraging digital platforms to enhance defect prevention, traceability, and continuous improvement.
This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation, develop dashboards and analytics, and contribute to the deployment of digital quality systems. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying Industry 4.0 technologies to real-world quality challenges, driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Expected Outcomes:
Implementation of digital tools that support defect prevention (digital pre-flight checklists, LPR)
Development of dashboards or analytics that provide actionable insights into quality performance.
Contribution to a culture of proactive quality and continuous improvement.
Primary Skills Developed:
Data Analysis & Visualization: Using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or GEV AI platform AMP to interpret quality data and identify trends or anomalies.
Digital Tool Integration: Experience MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and quality management platforms.
Root Cause Analysis: Applying structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) to quality issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 4.0 GPA out of 5.0 scale.
Other Eligibility Requirements:
US work authorization without company sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Python, SQL, or VBA).
Understanding of digital manufacturing systems (MES, ERP, QMS) is a plus.
Experience with Excel and data manipulation techniques.
Analytical & Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Exposure to root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma preferred).
Soft Skills:
Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Prior internship or project experience in manufacturing, quality, or digital transformation.
Knowledge of quality standards and defect prevention strategies.
Prior experience or coursework in digital manufacturing, quality engineering, or data analytics.
Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
Exposure to MES, ERP, or QMS platforms used in manufacturing environments.
Understanding of quality control systems, defect tracking, and root cause analysis techniques.
Ability to translate operational challenges into digital solutions using structured problem-solving.
Strong interest in Industry 4.0, smart factory concepts, and digital transformation.
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Experience with project-based work, internships, or academic research related to manufacturing or quality systems.
