JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Director, Talent Enterprise U.S plays a strategic leadership role in shaping and executing Abbott’s talent strategy. This role leads the identification, development, and advancement of critical talent across Divisions and functions, including Commercial, Operations, Quality, R&D, and Corporate Functions. The Director will drive talent initiatives, partner with DVP BHRs, business leaders, and lead a Divisional and Functional team to build a strong, diverse, and future-ready leadership pipeline.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Talent Strategy & Execution: Lead the U.S talent strategy, including talent identification, succession planning, and leadership development. Design and implement career pathing solutions for critical roles; Serve as a trusted advisor to senior HR and business leaders on talent-related matters.
  • Talent Development & Learning Integration: Collaborate with L&D to align development programs with talent needs; In partnership with Director Talent Development Operations, deliver best-in-class assessment, coaching and other talent development solutions to identify talent and accelerate development.
  • Executive Talent Management Reviews: Consult with DVP BHRs to build the talent stories for the most critical talent roles. Support Divisions and Functions with talent management review meetings. In partnership with Director Talent Development Operations, ensure all Executive materials presented to the EVP HR, DVP BHR, CEO, and BOD are executive-ready, accurate, and strategically aligned.
  • Talent Analytics & Insights: Use data to assess talent trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide actionable insights to guide talent investments and workforce planning. Monitor progress and ensure access to development opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing global team focused on talent identification and development. Build strong partnerships with DVP BHRs, Functional Committees, and Practice Centers. Navigate complex matrix environments to gain sponsorship and support for talent initiatives. Influence across all levels of the organization to drive adoption and impact.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into talent solutions.
  • Proven experience in global talent management, leadership development, assessment, succession planning, talent reviews, analytics, and career management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrate creative, future-oriented thinking to anticipate talent needs. Conduct benchmarking and best practice research. Translate business strategy into talent implications and targeted interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global teams and drive results in a matrixed environment; experience working across diverse geographies and cultures.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational psychology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., organizational development, organizational psychology, business administration) desired not required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a strong focus on Talent Management, Leadership Development, and Talent acceleration
  • 5+ years in leadership role, managing cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience designing and executing enterprise-wide talent strategies, including career path frameworks, succession planning, and leadership pipeline development.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior executives and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong background in using talent analytics and assessment tools to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed environments and navigating global cultural dynamics.

     

The base pay for this position is

$147,300.00 – $294,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
