The GSK Production System (GPS) has been deployed across Pharma Supply Chain (PSC), to drive common standards and best practices to achieve our goal of Zero accidents, zero defects and zero waste, and drive business performance improvements. The GPS is the continuous improvement system to enable PSC to reach a sustainable high level of performance towards this goal. Successful deployment and continuous improvement of GPS is a critical part of the PSC Strategy.

The Site GPS Practitioner role exists to deploy and embed the GPS across the Site to deliver the Business Strategy, improve Business Performance (Quality, Safety, Service, Cost, and Innovation) and drive the Continuous Improvement (CI) culture across all tiers of the organization.

As a key member of the Site team (line report to the Site GPS Lead), the Site GPS Practitioner is accountable for:

  • Partnering with leaders to build the Site’s Continuous Improvement culture and GPS capability of all Site personnel, by implementing day to day continuous improvement activities as a standard way of working.
  • Helping ensures the day-to-day continuous improvement activities result in a continuous improvement in the Site Performance towards the goal of Zero Accidents, Zero Defects and Zero Waste.
  • Conducting self-assessment of the Site vs. the GPS Maturity matrices and supporting the site to close any gaps.
  • Coaching / training the Site in GPS and CI.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with Site Director, Site Leadership team, and Site Management teams to define and deploy CI maturity plans targeted to embed the CI culture and GPS skillsets at all tiers of the organization.
  • Build the capability to continuously improve the site’s performance in Quality, Safety, Service, Cost and Innovation towards the goal of Zero accidents, zero defects and zero waste.
  • Align GPS improvements to site strategy and the delivery of business benefit. Lead site projects and programs aimed at improving the CI culture.
  • Drive effective site engagement and people change management planning with site managers and teams, using ADP principles to deliver sustainable changes to ways of working. 
  • Transfer expertise and capability in CI culture and GPS standards through training, mentoring in best practices, practical application and coaching their application at the Gemba.
  • Provide individual development planning and execution for site teams.
  • Track and confirm progress of the site’s CI maturity goals and targets as well as alignment of CI goals to strategy deployment targets and site improvement plans.
  • Coach site leaders and individual contributors to develop and sustain continuous improvement mindsets and behaviors.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on the GPS basics to the Site based on an in depth understanding of GPS.
  • Lead GPS activities beyond the capability of the site team, while actively role modeling GPS skills and behaviors.
  • Communicate and propagate best practice within the site and across the network.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing / engineering /quality/ Logistics based
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical production and/or engineering
  • Experience with quality systems and Environment Health & Safety (EHS) standards
  • Experience supporting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Good level of understanding and use of Lean/Sigma (Master Black Belt / Black Belt /Green belt- possible)
  • Problem solving in the context of site goals
  • People change management concepts and practice

GSK’s Zebulon site is a global supplier of Respiratory and Solid Dose medicines to patients around the globe and the largest GSK Pharmaceutical secondary manufacturing site in North America.  The site is located less than 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh, Wendell, Knightdale, Rocky Mount, Wilson, and Wake Forest.
