We are looking for a Managing Counsel to provide federal and state marketing, product and UDAP and UDAAP legal support for the Direct to Consumer Marketing team. 

What You'll Bring:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required and 6+ years of experience, with at least 4 years of experience as a practicing attorney (in-house or law firm) advising on the regulatory compliance of consumer financial services products including federal and state UDAP/UDAAP legal support.
  • Preferred experience includes working at consumer financial services company, advising clients regarding marketing and advertising, product design, consumer communications, complaint management and issue remediation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the following areas of law are preferred, but not required: FCRA, GLBA, privacy.
  • Ability to influence internal/external business and regulatory issues that have an impact on the business.
  • A team player ready to work closely in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with other attorneys, compliance professionals, business clients and senior leaders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills (root cause analysis, problem solving, issue spotting, and decision making).
  • Strong work ethic with the demonstrated ability to manage and handle a significant and diverse work flow in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently, yet exhibit sound judgment in seeking guidance and direction from senior attorneys and escalating issues.

Impact You'll Make:

The role will provide ongoing legal support to support the Marketing and Solutions team including:

  • Interpreting applicable laws and regulations
  • Identifying, anticipating and protecting the company against related risk exposure
  • Counsel and advise the U.S. Direct to Consumer business on sales and marketing practice activities, digital marketing strategy and third party advertising to our direct consumer customers.
  • Supporting growth and mitigating risk in the direct to consumer business through expertise in compliant product design and fulfillment, customer experience, issue management and remediation.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
