Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a global semiconductor leader that bridges the physical and digital worlds to enable breakthroughs at the Intelligent Edge. ADI combines analog, digital, and software technologies into solutions that help drive advancements in digitized factories, mobility, and digital healthcare, combat climate change, and reliably connect humans and the world. With revenue of more than $12 billion in FY22 and approximately 25,000 people globally working alongside 125,000 global customers, ADI ensures today’s innovators stay Ahead of What’s Possible.

ADI’s Aerospace and Defense business has an open position for an RF/Microwave Module Design Engineer who will work with cutting-edge integrated modules and subsystems ranging from miniaturized multi-chip “System-In-Package” modules to high power rack-based subsystems. You will work in a collaborative, cross-discipline team environment including digital, software, mechanical, test, and process engineering.

ADI’s Integrated Solutions department drives development of complex high-integration multi-chip assemblies that leverage ADI’s integrated circuits across the entire signal chain from antenna-to-bits. Products cover a range of commercial, military, and satellite applications. The position requires design skills and proficiency with CAD modeling tools applicable to amplifiers, up/down converters, synthesizers, and high-speed data converters.

What you will do:

  • Full life cycle system design and ownership including collecting requirements, signal chain simulations, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and system integration.
  • Evaluate multichip signal chains and systems from DC to 40GHz+.
  • Analyze chip level and system trade-offs including, frequency conversion planning and signal chain design for low spurious, low phase noise, gain, IP3, noise figure.
  • Design/review multilayer printed circuit boards paying attention to high-speed effects, signal flow, and proper design rule adherence.
  • Design for test (DFT) definition & development to improve testability, quality and reduce cost. Design test fixturing to allow for full product characterization.
  • Perform research and analysis on the best design techniques for specific product challenges. Develop and implement system improvements, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Own and oversee hardware and system bring up, development of test plan and protocols, debug, evaluation, and validation in a lab environment.
  • Act as a technical lead for cross-functional teams, and also as a confident peer influencer and mentor

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSEE with 6-10+ years or MSEE with 4-6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience leading full signal chain design in a cross-functional setting.
  • Mixed signal chain design using high frequency RF devices, high-speed data converters, analog/power circuitry and simulation, component selection.
  • Proficient in the lab working with equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, network analyzers, signal generators, automated test instrumentation using a platform such as NI PXI or similar.
  • Experience with developing robust test plans and designing automated test fixtures and test sequencing using Python scripting or equivalent.
  • Familiar with design for power and signal integrity with mixed signal hardware including RF and digital interfaces.
  • Effective communication, judgement, and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Capable of adapting to the changing needs of a design and prototyping environment.
  • Enjoy tinkering, taking things apart and making things work.

What experience is preferred:

  • RF and high-speed digital circuit design experience. Cadence or Siemens EDA Schematic / Layout proficiency.
  • Mechanical design for electronics enclosures, heat sinking and proper cooling.
  • Experience designing and debugging power electronics.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as ADS/SystemVue, AnsysEM (HFSS), MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice or similar.
  • Understanding of EW or RADAR system operations and design objectives
