Job Summary:
Job Description: The Chaplain provides spiritual care as part of the care team to patients and families considering population specific needs such as age and culture at our Coon Rapids, MN location.
Principle Responsibilities
- Develop and implement spiritual assessments which may include crisis and intervention, bereavement, chemical dependency and addictive patterns;
- complete patient/family assessment and participate in the development of the plan of care when patient is in hospice;
- facilitate values and goals clarification related to bio-ethics/health care decision making;
- provide or coordinate sacramental ministry as requested;
- provide counseling to patients and families;
- provide consultation and support;
- support the emotional and spiritual health of employees, patients and families;
- counsel those requesting support in situations such as stress, burn out, bereavement, chemical dependency and addictive patterns;
- use crisis assessment and intervention skills in emergency situations;
- lead and participate on committees and quality initiatives for patients and employees.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in Divinity, Pastoral Care, Theology or related field;
- Two years of related pastoral experience
- Must also have the following experience:
- 12 months of experience providing or coordinating sacramental ministry as requested;
- 12 months of experience teaching Pastoral Care or related courses;
- Experience providing counseling and consultation and supporting the emotional and spiritual health of those in need, utilizing a global perspective;
- Experience developing and implementing spiritual assessments which may include crisis and intervention, bereavement, chemical dependency and addictive patterns-all in a multicultural setting;
- Experience providing group facilitation around topics of spiritual health and well-being.
- Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master's program.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must be ordained or licensure with judicatory eligible required and Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc. (BCCI); and certification eligible with the Association of Professional Chaplains.
