As a RDGM Business Operations, you will be responsible for the day to day operations for R&D and Global Medical including: formation of internal and external communications specific to the operations of RDGM, management of leadership team meetings and improvement of functional processes. Develops and maintains the organization’s operational plan(s) to ensure its continued successful growth and delivery of pipeline and medical objectives. Conducts environmental scans, organizational positioning analyses and other studies.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Execute the operational planning process for R&D, GM and RDGM.
  • Identify and recommend strategies to target improved processes.
  • Lead change management for embedding improved processes by taking action to maintain effective dynamics and creating optimal team environment and performance,
  • Ensure consistency and quality of communication.
  • Drive collaboration across the functional groups.
  • Provide expertise to 2-4 high priority projects aligned to critical business process collaborating with subject matter experts to accelerate delivery, improve processes or develop future state changes.
  • Collaborate with the ViiV Chief of Staff to resolve issues and lead problem solving efforts to identify solutions for improving the culture.
  • Foster continued improvement to processes in R&D, in Global Medical and across RDGMH.
  • Foster collaboration with GSK R&D and adopt/share best practices across the 2 organizations.
  • Facilitate conduct of key meetings – R&D LT, GMLT
  • Facilitate planning and provide operational input and review to ensure resource allocation is in alignment with Project/Program and allocated pipeline workload forecasts across the R&D portfolio.  Lead quarterly ViiV resource forecasting to provide an assessment of workforce in alignment with pipeline and portfolio workload. 
  • Manage multiple complex projects concurrently

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either science, or business, or project management
  • 5+ years of Pharma experience, specifically in project management or business operations
  • Experience working within a matrix team of different level stake holders ranging all the way up to C-Suit level/SVP level.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a matrix team

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Preferred PMI (project management institute certification)
  • Demonstrated ability to function and influence others within a complex organizational matrix
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through the matrix driving to deliverables and timelines
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong judgement, and strong leadership skills including effective communication, emotional intelligence, influencing skills within a matrix and senior management (e.g. influence without authority), motivate others, and manage conflicts
  • Ability to foster a strong collaborative spirit internally within ViiV and externally with GSK
  • Experience leading the delivery of multiple/complex projects/assignments in a matrix environment to demanding deadlines with minimal direction/leadership
  • Continuously looking for opportunities to learn, build skills and share learning both internally and externally.
  • Highly effective influencing and negotiations skills in challenging, ambiguous and/or changing environments.
  • Highly effective verbal, written, presentation communications skills.
  • Demonstrated skill operating in situations characterized by complexity, ambiguity, and high levels of uncertainty.
  • Possess negotiation skills and ability to influence with or without authority at all levels of the organization.
