The Role 

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to rebuild and establish Farther's design system from the ground up. This foundational role will shape how our entire product organization works—creating the infrastructure that enables consistent, high-quality experiences at speed.

Your first 6-12 months will focus heavily on design system work: auditing assets, building a scalable component library, creating documentation, and driving adoption across design and engineering. You'll own prioritization, roadmapping, and stakeholder alignment—treating the system like a product you're responsible for end-to-end.

As the system matures, you'll contribute to product feature work across our advisor and client platforms—partnering with PMs and scrum teams, and seeing your components come to life in real products. This evolution gives you both the autonomy to build something foundational and the collaborative product work that follows.

Your Impact 

Design Systems Foundation

• Audit existing design assets and build a scalable, accessible component library in Figma
• Create reusable components, design tokens, and detailed usage documentation
• Own prioritization, roadmapping, and stakeholder communication for the design system
• Define governance processes for adoption, enhancements, and deprecations
• Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure design-to-code fidelity and proper implementation
• Establish education and onboarding processes that drive real adoption across the team

Product Design Contribution

• Contribute to feature work across advisor tools, client platform, and mobile as priorities evolve
• Partner with PMs and engineering teams on end-to-end design from discovery through implementation
• Apply systems thinking to ensure new features maintain consistency and quality
• Collaborate with other designers to ensure seamless cross-platform experiences

The Ideal Match 

• 5+ years of product design experience with 2-3+ years in design systems
• Expert Figma skills with ability to build scalable component architectures
• Both strategic and executional—you can set the vision AND do the detailed component work
• Self-directed with strong prioritization and stakeholder management skills
• Strong engineering collaboration—you understand how design translates to code
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Energized by variety and comfortable with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Points 

• Experience in fintech or regulated industries
• Familiarity with Storybook or similar tools
• Background in mobile design systems (iOS/Android)
• Interest in AI tools and design automation
• Experience mentoring designers or leading adoption initiatives
