Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Talent & Growth is a people leader and strategic partner responsible for advancing talent, performance, and growth priorities across Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product + Technology and ESPN. This role directly manages the coordinator for all Talent & Growth program operations, and is accountable for the collective outcomes of talent and learning solutions that support business strategy, employee engagement, and leadership capability

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
    • Own and shape talent and growth strategic programs for DEEPT and ESPN, ensuring alignment to business priorities, workforce needs, and enterprise/COE people strategies and programs.
    • Translate business priorities into a cohesive portfolio of talent solutions, including performance management enablement, talent planning, leadership development, and career growth.
    • Set priorities, sequence work, and make trade-off decisions to ensure focus on the highest-impact initiatives.
  • People Leadership & Team Accountability
    • Lead, develop, and coach the team’s coordinator; establish clear expectations, roles, and success measures.
    • Be accountable for team general operations, quality of output, and outcomes.
    • Build functional expertise, consulting skills, and leadership readiness across direct report(s).
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Influence
    • Act as a thought partner to senior HR Business Partners and clients, influencing decisions related to talent strategy, leadership capability and engagement.
    • Navigate complex client environments, balancing TWDC standards with business-specific needs.
    • Represent DEEPT and ESPN in partnership with Talent, Learning, Performance, and Growth COEs, influencing shared solutions and enterprise priorities.
  • Talent & Performance Enablement
    • Oversee the execution and quality of core talent processes including performance management, talent planning, calibration, leadership development, onboarding, and development planning. Specific projects and programs are subject to yearly business priorities and evolving needs.
    • Ensure consistency, rigor, and meaningful outcomes across talent cycles while adapting approaches to business context.
    • Use talent data, employee experience data, and leader feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Operational Excellence & Problem Solving
    • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives requiring coordination across teams and disciplines.
    • Identify and resolve organizational, operational, and people-related challenges that extend beyond individual programs.
    • Establish success metrics and dashboards to evaluate effectiveness and inform decisions.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a performance consulting, training, learning and development, organizational development, culture transformation and/or team development capacity, with a proven track record designing and delivering effective learning strategies and plans.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence without authority.
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives and setting priorities in complex environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Tech-forward mindset, with a particular lens to scale and sustain talent programs and initiatives.

Required Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field.

Preferred Education

  • Masters Degree in related field

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $126,800 to $154,800 per year, in Bristol, CT is $126,800 to $154,800 per year, and in New York, NY is $132,800 to $162,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
