The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. You’ll be a part of the Business Banking Digital domain, working within a dynamic squad focused on designing, implementing, and operating AI solutions, and uplifting AI engineering capability across Business Banking.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be working within a cross-functional squad responsible for the technical design, development, and rollout of key enhancements to our end-users. You’re constantly pushing the boundaries to help deliver outcomes that define future industry trends and your passion for outstanding user experience and ability to solve complex problems is key to developing high quality technical solutions. Also, you will be a strong advocate for best practices, capable of challenging and being challenged, to deliver the best technical solutions for our customers. With your rich blend of skillsets, you will contribute to the systems end-to-end as well as manage risk with safe deployments and automated testing.

Contribute to the strategic engineering goals within our own team and platform. Drive continuous improvement for the system, team processes, and AI engineering capability domain-wide. Design secure, performant, and resilient architectures utilising core AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch. Design and implement CI/CD workflows utilising toolsets such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, and/or GitHub Actions, to create rapid, automated and safe deployment of technical solutions. Lead support and technical troubleshooting responsibilities for production systems, ensuring that platforms meet service level objectives. Provide mentoring and technical assistance to other members of the team. Implement AI solutions within a highly regulated industry, to support our customers, colleagues, and community. Obtain and/or maintain your AWS certification in development, system operations or architecture.
Tech Skills:
Mandatory Experience/Skillset
3+ years’ experience in developing back-end solutions utilising .Net, Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
Experience in designing secure, performant, and resilient architectures utilising core AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudWatch.
Experience with Infrastructure as code tools such as AWS CloudFormation, and/or terraform.
Experience designing and implementing CI/CD workflows, utilising toolsets such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, and/or GitHub Actions
Experience in financial services, particularly with experience in ITIL service management processes.
Experience with logging and monitoring tools, in both the implementation and use of them in troubleshooting.
Bonus Experience/Skillsets
Prior experience in implementing GenAI solutions in a highly regulated industry
AWS certification in solution architecture, development, Devops or equivalent.
Experience with nuanced AI/ML-based tools, such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, and Jupyter Notebooks.
Prior experience with Backend or front-end testing frameworks, such as Playwright.
