Job Summary

This position will oversee facility infrastructure to support Research, Development and Testing of novel battery materials.  The position will work closely with the Research and Development team to maintain and improve existing facilities as well as oversee installation of new facility components.  These facilities include a Research and Development laboratory, a small Pilot Manufacturing Facility and a state-of-the-art Battery Testing Laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain existing facilities.  This will include preventative maintenance of equipment as well as repair of components as needed.  The facilities covered include laboratory-scale equipment R&D equipment, a small chemical process pilot plant and a battery testing facility.

  • Work with R&D team to specify, purchase, install, design or modify existing lab and process equipment as required.

  • Proactively address safety within the facility.  Assist in performing process measurements and observations to support safe operation.  Design or modify equipment for safer operation, which may include guarding, dust control, fire prevention/control and other aspects of operator and facility safety.

Qualifications

  • Education: BS or AS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.  Experience in mechanical trades.

  • >5 years experience in chemical process facilities maintenance and/or facilities construction.

  • Ability to conceptualize, design, build and install needed mechanical/plumbing components.

  • Experience in AutoCad and other mechanical design methods.

  • Experience working with and supervising external contractors.  This will include communicating equipment design and requirements and ensuring job requirements are met.

  • Experience working with vendors in capital equipment purchases.

  • Working knowledge of electricity and NEC.  Ability to work with test device interfacing and communication is a plus.

  • Commitment to workplace safety; experience in risk assessment and safety management; familiarity with OSHA compliance.

Annual Salary: 108,682 - 122,612
