Job Summary

Sets up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities Information:

  • Plans and performs a sequence  of operations where standards or recognized methods are available
  • Maintains quality standards, tolerances, operations, and setup sequences
  • Performs setups and operates CNC equipment
  • Selects and uses correct tools as required
  • Produces finished shafts to blueprint specifications
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader

Necessary Skills:

  • 1 year trade school on CNC equipment and/or 3-5 years CNC machining experience
  • Training on how to read and interpret machining measuring devices and blueprints
  • Experience in reading and understanding geometric tolerancing
  • CNC machine programming is preferred
  • Knowledge of part handling and rigging
