Enviva is seeking an Operations Finance Analyst for their regional headquarters in Raleigh, NC. As an instrumental member of the organization, the Operations Finance Analyst will be actively involved in supporting the activities associated with forecasting, planning, and analysis (FP&A) at the plant and corporate level.
This position will work to develop and maintain analytical tools and reports for our operators and management to improve decision making and drive business performance. The Operations Finance Analyst will work closely with all facets of the operations and finance teams, including plant and regional operations, engineering, regional finance and accounting, and corporate finance. This role reports to the Operations Finance Manager and supports all plant and port facilities.
Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at the Raleigh office and 2 remote days.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly and annual FP&A process and maintain all plant and port forecasting files and analyses
- Collaborate with plant and port operations teams to prepare and present forecasts and monthly financial reporting packages which summarize the regions’ business activity and financial performance based on past, present and expected operations
- Support the consolidation of the corporate-level forecast by working with our corporate finance and commercial teams
- Analyze financial data and performance metrics related to operations to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Assist with annual budgeting process
- Coordinate with plant and port leaders to prepare and present detailed operating plan
- Perform analyses on YoY performance and trends
- Assist with developing the annual maintenance and growth capital expenditures budgets
- Maintain all plant and port budget files
- Develop new analytical tools to improve operational decision making
- Leverage existing systems and data to build reporting tools for plant and port personnel
- Use data to identify gaps in performance between plants to drive year-over-year productivity improvements and cost-out
- Provide feedback on improvements of processes and systems
- Improve documentation of processes of existing and new procedures
- Support the development, execution, and measurement of operational change management and strategic initiatives. Drive accountability for results and define key performance metrics together with business leaders
- Prepare weekly dashboards
- Retrieve data from internal data warehouses and plant controllers to prepare reports and monitor performance of production volume and costs
- Understand changes to scheduled production and ensure they are communicated cross-functionally
- Prepare weekly materials that summarize key variances vs. budget
- Support the capital planning process
- Prepare appropriate ROI analysis supporting project viability including sensitivities of the included assumptions
- Report the actual returns achieved from projects and compare against expected returns in the investment thesis
- Prepare monthly capital project reporting package for finance and operations leaders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related areas
- 1-2 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, manufacturing, supply chain, or related financial field
- Strong analytical abilities; organized with attention to detail
- Prior experience in financial statement analysis, particularly within operations
- Previous success in driving operational improvement through use of data and analytics
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with all functions and levels of the organization
- Motivated self-starter; comfortable working in an unstructured environment with the ability to adapt quickly and partner with business partners effectively
- Ability to successfully prioritize and complete multiple tasks and collaborate with diverse teams
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and ownership of tasks
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
