About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join our Technology Operations team. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of Wells Fargo’s global network infrastructure. You will function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex network environments, provide advanced troubleshooting, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead the review, resolution and implementation for the most complex technical issues and initiatives related to large scale network applications, data systems, voice and other technical products and services
  • Use and create diagnostic, simulation and other tools to maintain, troubleshoot and restore service or data to systems
  • Evaluate or review queries to extract data, create standard procedures, or perform limited programming to fine tune systems supported
  • Research performance trends and recommend process improvements
  • Perform complex migrations from development to production, upgrades, installations and configurations
  • Make decisions in security and regulatory policies to design and implement foolproof secured network solutions
  • Assess changes for risk to production systems and assure quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported areas
  • Identify gaps in current technology processes and recommend changes to assure Service Level Agreements can be supported
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of network support experience in NOC operations or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of Routing & Switching protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP).
  • Ability to quickly analyze and troubleshoot data and voice network outages in large enterprise environments.
  • Extensive firsthand experience with:
    • Cisco Routers, Switches, Wireless devices
    • Cisco/Checkpoint Firewalls
    • F5 Load Balancers
    • IP subnetting, Layer 2–4 stack, VoIP, QoS, MPLS, SD-WAN
  • Experience with Arista hardware is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Ansible automation is a plus.
  • Certifications: CCNA and at least one CCNP-level exam completed (CCNA specialties, F5, MCSE preferred).


Job Expectations:

  • Troubleshoot complex and escalated network issues across Wells Fargo’s enterprise infrastructure.
  • Participate in Major Incident Management calls and bridge lines for critical outages.
  • Handle tickets escalated from Tier 2 support and work on incidents per the Integrated Operations Incident Management Process.
  • Configure network devices as part of break-fix activities.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Technology functions, Cisco TAC, and other priority support teams.
  • Serve as an SME for technologies including Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Load Balancers (F5), Proxies, and related network components.
  • Mentor and train Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers to build operational excellence.
  • Open and manage Change Controls and emergency break-fix change records.
  • Engage with Cisco NOC and HTTS support for escalations.
  • Utilize tools such as Sniffer/Infinistream for packet capture and analysis.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to Firewalls, Load Balancers, Proxy appliances, and complex routing/switching environments.
  • Collaborate with vendors for escalations and resolution of critical issues.
  • Provide operational input for engineering projects and participate in weekly on-call rotations, including after-hours and weekend escalations.
